Manuka honey speeds wound healing naturally and quickly. And, it also has natural antibiotic properties to prevent infection when used on skin wounds.

Honey speeds wound healing naturally and quickly so keep it in your medicine cabinet. Some honey also has natural antibiotic properties to prevent infection when used on skin wounds.

What is manuka honey?

Manuka honey is derived from nectar found in manuka trees. These trees are located in Australia and New Zealand.

It is claimed that this honey has high antioxidant properties. And, it was recently found to have antibacterial tendencies as well. Although not proven, cases exist where users who use it as an alternative medicine reported that their conditions went away on their own.

Health benefits of manuka honey

There are claims that it has some key medicinal functions. But the research is limited. The main usage is as a topical solution to heal minor wounds and burns.

This medicinal honey cleans wounds and burns because it naturally contains hydrogen peroxide. The increasingly popular alternative is that manuka honey can be used as an antibacterial product. The honey can either be consumed orally or applied topographically to inhibit its antibacterial qualities.

Personal Usage of Manuka Honey

I recently tried this magical substance as a skin ointment. A close friend of mine suggested it as an alternative to antibiotics.

During the wrestling season I came down with a staph infection that would not go away with three different types of prescribed antibiotics. Hoping to find an alternative that would be easier on my body, I thought I would apply the manuka honey directly onto the open sores.

I applied it two to three times a day and kept it on for 15 minutes before washing it off. During my period of sleep, I would leave the honey on the sores to soak all night and covered it with sports wrap so that the it wouldn’t get on my sheets.

Remarkably, the honey had an almost instantaneous affect. Within 24 hours my staph sores had begin to close up and heal, after two weeks of antibiotics proved to fail.

After a few days of constant application my infection cleared and I was left scar free. I am thankful that my friend suggested this alternative to antibiotics.

Manuka honey can be used to heal skin wounds quickly and prevent infection. I keep a container of this amazing honey in my medicine cabinet in case I develop any other skin infections or wounds.
