You are correct. The substitutes should be referred to as “natural beta blocker alternatives” because they do not work by blocking the beta adrenergic receptors like the drugs do. This article is being rewritten to reflect that. Thanks for the feedback!

Norepinephrine increases heart rate, beta blockers are some of the safest drugs for people with anxiety (virtually no side effects), and none of these “substitutes” are actual beta blockers.

Nothing in this article is a beta antagonist. None of them can beconsidered an alternative to a beta blocker and many can make anxiety worse. Theanine is metabolized into glutamate, for example.

These supplements will only help people low in serotonin and glutamate. Not people with high levels of adrenaline and its counterparts.

It’s an article on Mercola.com linked in the article (just before that statement).

Most importantly, where did you get the information that beta blockers kill hundreds of thousands?

It is a symbol of solitude that often comes with anxiety. The list is potential alternatives to prescription beta blockers.

Yet you repeatedly incorrectly call them exactly that. Why? Also, why is that anxious woman’s nipple visible? Is that supposed to be some political statement?

We do not have any recommendations for that, but maybe someone else reading does.
