Do you have a few holiday pounds to lose? Looking to burn energy more efficiently? Want healthier cells? Look to intermittent fasting to boost your overall health. Your body will enjoy the benefits.

What exactly is intermittent fasting?

Intermittent fasting is an eating habit where you go between periods of eating and fasting. There have been numerous studies on this behavior. They show the benefits are profound to keeping a healthy body and mind.

Top 5 Intermittent Fasting Keto Diet Benefits

1. Cell Functionality Changes

Four key experiences happen. The first involves insulin levels. During periods of fasting insulin drops significantly. The benefit? Fat burning becomes easier and more efficient.

The second involves Human Growth Hormone (HGH). When fasting, HGH levels can increase by 5 times its normal level. Higher blood HGH leads to faster fat burning and muscle gain. The increased muscle yields a faster metabolism.

The third involves cellular repair. During periods of fasting cells more efficiently remove waste products. This leaves your cells cleaner and less cluttered. The final involves gene expression. Intermittent fasting can promote certain genes yielding to longevity in life.

2. Lower Type II Diabetes Risk

Type II Diabetes is caused by insulin resistance. This insulin resistance is due to high blood sugar. Fasting drops blood sugar levels. In clinical trials blood sugar levels dropped 3-6% during fasting. Consequently, insulin dropped upwards of 31%!

Another complication of Type II diabetes are kidney issues. Intermittent fasting helped diabetic rats. During a trial fasting prevented these rats from developing kidney issues.

3. Live Longer

Following an intermittent fasting keto diet may yield longevity. A study of rats expressed these findings. The study showed fasting rats lived 83% longer.

Although not proven in humans, the current research shows some promising signs. The effects on the brain support the idea of longevity. There is a strong impact on metabolism. This effect hints that fasting can yield longer life in humans.

4. Protect Heart Health

Heart disease is the number one killer worldwide. Heart diseased is caused by numerous factors. These are: high blood pressure and high cholesterol to name two. Other factors are inflammation and high blood sugars. Animal trials show fasting is beneficial. These trials showed the rats to be resistant to heart disease warning signs.

Other intermittent fasting benefits to the brain include reduced mental disorders. Fasting has been show to decrease depression. This eating behavior also protects you against damage caused by strokes.

Periods of fasting can be difficult. Hunger can make you uneasy. Hunger can initially make you feel tired. Hunger may physiologically effect you. However, your body works best when undergoing periods of hunger.
