Are you looking to fight Lyme disease naturally? I had to fight Lyme too many times and I looked to natural remedies for a full recovery.

I love the outdoors, I do a side job that requires me to be in the woods for long periods of time, and I live in rural Connecticut. All of these prime risk factors are what led me to acquiring Lyme disease on numerous occasions.

I had to fight Lyme disease three times now, all on separate occasions. The first, as a young child, I had the typical bulls eye rash and was given a dose of antibiotics. The second time, as a teenager, I did not have the rash but was crippled at the joints and later prescribed antibiotics. Both times I was given doxycycline. This antibiotic is a common – and oftentimes the sole – antibiotic used.

When I contracted Lyme a third time I did not want to go back on antibiotics. I was put on doxycycline for a number of other diseases to fight staph and MRSA. I know the overuse of antibiotics creates the rise of superbugs. Because of this, I looked for ways to fight Lyme disease naturally. If you want an alternative to Lyme disease look no further than this post to guide you. It sucks to fight Lyme, but done right the recovery can be quick and relatively painless.

By this point I assume you are aware of what Lyme disease is and the symptoms it entails. A good portion of Lyme disease and its symptoms are due to a bacteria infection. This is why antibiotics are utilized. However, antibiotics actually weaken the immune system and make it harder for your body to fight the infection. The key to fighting the disease naturally is to boost your immune system to help put your body in better equilibrium. Here are ways you can promote your immune system to fight Lyme disease naturally.

Fight Lyme disease naturally

1. Take Probiotics

If you are taking antibiotics for Lyme disease, it’s really important that you also consume probiotics. Ideally, you’ll want to take the probiotic at least 2 hours after you’ve taken your antibiotic. The reason is that antibiotics destroy the good gut bacteria which is essential to maintain a healthy gut. Once you finish your prescribed dose of antibiotics, you should continue with probiotics for at least 2-4 weeks to ensure you have replenished the population of good gut bacteria in your intestines. In addition, the probiotics will help build up your immune system to fight Lyme disease naturally and any complications that may arise.

2. Cut Back on Sugar

Cutting back on sugar is one of the most important things you can do to fight Lyme disease, or most other bacterial infections. The bacteria uses sugar as its fuel. By reducing the fuel source the bacteria is able to die off more quickly. Although white sugar is of most concern, you may want to cut artificial sugars and natural sugars like those found in fruit as well. Starving bacteria of it’s preferred food source helps fight Lyme disease naturally.

3. Eat Vegetables

During a time of infection, your body is looking for fuel to continue fighting in full force. You would not want to put garbage into a system that requires premium fuel, would you? A good salad filled with leafy greens is an excellent meal that you can incorporate to feed your immune system.

4. Increase Vitamins

Besides eating the right foods, it is necessary to fuel your body in other ways. Vitamins, like Vitamins B and C, are great for autoimmune diseases.

5. Get Some Sleep

You also want to get plenty of rest. During Lyme your body is working in full swing to fight and kill what is making you sick. Without rest, your body cannot recover. If you cannot sleep, try taking melatonin. 3-4mg should be plenty and healthy to get you much needed rest.

Conclusion

Curing Lyme does not happen over night. Even with medication, it takes days, weeks, or even months. Treat your body well. Provide it with rest. Give it good sources of fuel. Most importantly, cut back sugar. Sugar fuels the bacteria. Manage these three things with consistency to be on the road to recovery!
