Over the past century, there has been much controversy over butter. Butter was originally a must have commodity. But, confusing research led some to believe butter was the equivalent of margarine. This of course is not the case.

Straight butter is beneficial to your health. This is because it is natural. Raw butter is even more beneficial.

What are butter health benefits? Should you eat it daily?

Butter Health Benefits You May Not Know

Promoting Heart Health

Butter contains Vitamin A, which is crucial to many bodily functions. Eating delicious real butter is the easiest way for Americans to consume Vitamin A.

Butter helps regulate your thyroid and adrenal glands. Both are responsible for proper functioning of the heart and cardiovascular systems.

Butter is also a great source of good cholesterol. The good cholesterol found in butter helps remove harmful free radicals. These harmful components are often found in margarine. Harmful free radicals can also be found in highly processed vegetable oils.

Real butter is also high in vitamin K2. One study found that people who consumed the highest amounts of vitamin K2 had the lowest rate of heart disease. This was concluded to be attributed to reduced calcification and hardening of the arteries.

Stronger Teeth

What are the butter health benefits associated with oral health?

Butter contains an essential nutrient known as Vitamin K2. This vitamin is crucial to help teeth remineralize. If teeth do not remineralize, they may become dull or hollow.

Saliva can take minerals from teeth. This happens in individuals with active tooth decay. However, this can be reversed. Minerals go from saliva to teeth after treating with vitamin K2.

The article states tooth decay is usually caused by bacteria. The bacteria is Lactobacillus acidophilus. Increased levels in saliva cause tooth decay. Treatment using vitamin K2 kills the bacteria. Vitamin K2 reduces bacteria by 95% or more. Getting rid of the bacteria stops the active tooth decay.

Healthier Kids

Vitamin A is not just good for heart health. Vitamin A is crucial to promoting healthy children. Vitamin A deficiency (VAD) is shown to cause many defects in children. You can read about some of the effects of VAD here.

Those with VAD have shown narrow faces and skeletal structure due to impaired bone growth. They also show signs of crowded teeth. In extreme cases blindness and other birth defects can be found to those whose mother had Vitamin A deficiency.

Healthy Thyroid

Many people today suffer from some sort of thyroid disorder. Butter can combat this issue. Remember Vitamin A? It plays a crucial roll here as well. Vitamin A alone promotes a healthy thyroid.

Butter contains another crucial element. What is this element? A highly absorbable form of iodine. This element is needed for a healthy thyroid.

Many people have argued that butter was the cause of heart disease. They are far from correct. After butter was cut from the diet, heart disease INCREASED.

The key component of butter is Vitamin A. Butter is the easiest way for us to incorporate this vitamin into our daily diet. It’s also an excellent source of vitamin K2. The thyroid also gets a boost from the iodine.

Conclusion

Eat butter regularly to increase overall health. Look for non-pasteurized butter. Also consider butter from grass-fed cows. These types provide even more health benefits. And, don’t forget that butter is also a terrific source of smart fats!
