Are you aware of beauty product toxic ingredients? There are a large number beauty product containing toxic ingredients which have been found to be harmful. Make a switch to natural cosmetics!

Women, and men, use beauty and hygienic products everyday for a plethora of uses, but on average each woman uses about 10 beauty products daily. This equates to exposure to over 100 deadly chemicals that are widely found in many beauty products.

Below are some of the top beauty product toxic ingredients and their known effects. Those who use beauty products containing these toxic substances should be aware of the effects that these chemical ingredients can have.

Nanoparticles

In a day and age flooded with technology, new engineered products are hitting the shelves in almost all departments. For the beauty aisle, nanoparticles -small, engineered particles- are being embedded in more and more makeup products to allow a more natural texture and support of the compounds already in the products.

Due to their relatively new emergence, there is very little data backing the good and bad side effects of the presence of nanoparticles. However, it is hypothesized that nanoparticles can have access to the inner workings of the cell and damage its DNA, significantly harming the cell.

Although this has only been shown to happen under UV radiation, it is important to keep an eye out for products containing these components. If you are leery of nanoparticles in your beauty products, there are online websites that have lists of products free of nanoparticles.

Parabens

Another toxic chemical that has been in beauty products for some time are parabens. Commonly found in deodorant, makeup, shampoo, and oral care products, parabens are included in products as a preservative and to curb bacteria growth.

However, an unintended side effect is that parabens may increase your risk for breast cancer. A study showed that 99% of tissue from a breast cancer patient contained at least one paraben, and 60% contained greater than 5 parabens. To avoid the side effects of these products on estrogen levels, look for products labeled “paraben-free” or simply “organic”.

Triclosan

This product is found in many antibacterial soaps, deodorants, and toothpastes serving to add an antibacterial agent to the product. However, there is an unintended side effect to curbing the spread of bacteria. What is this?

Triclosen containing products has led to the effect that antibiotics are having on bacteria, resistance. This agent has also caused hormone disruptions in human consumers. The more triclosan products are used, the more resistant bacteria of a colony grow and reproduce creating new generations of stronger superbugs.

The Environmental Protection Agency even classifies triclosan as a pesticide, which many in the science field are aware that new pesticides have led to the rise in super pests. The CDC says that soap and water are just as effective to killing bacteria as antibacterial soaps, so why harm your hormone regulations and cause new spawns of bacteria if there is no need?

Phthalates

Lastly, phthalates are increasing in the FDA’s watch list as chemicals of concern. Phthalates are found in most soaps and in some nail polish agents. Added to many products to add flexibility, this component in healthcare products has shown to increase the risk of diabetes. The compounds have also shown trends toward lower hormone levels and even smaller genitals in men where their mothers had phthalates consumed during pregnancy.

If you are looking to keep hormone balances in line, prevent the rise of superbugs, and keep nanotechnology from harming your cells, avoid the above beauty product toxic ingredients. You’ll need to keep an eye out for them when you are going down the beauty aisle.

You would be surprised to find out how many products contain these toxic ingredients. We recommend the 100% Pure beauty line because their products are free of these harmful chemicals. Check out our review on their fruit pigment liquid eyeliner.
